Hello, I'm Elliott Riley — an independent Business Technology & Data Consultant.
I've spent nearly 30 years helping organisations make better use of technology and information, simplify operations and deliver business change.
I'm an independent Business Technology & Data Consultant and former European Technology Director.
My career has taken me from hands-on operational and technology roles through to senior leadership positions, including responsibility for technology and data across multiple businesses and European markets.
I've worked closely with managing directors, business leaders and operational teams, helping them navigate complex decisions, introduce new ways of working and deliver significant programmes. That experience shapes how I approach consultancy today.
Senior leadership experience, grounded in everyday business challenges

- Co-leading transformation programmes involving HR, payroll, finance and employee services.

- Helping commercial teams use sales and operational information to make more informed decisions.
Some of this work involved setting direction, leading teams and overseeing delivery. Other assignments required getting directly involved in understanding processes, examining information, defining requirements and solving problems. I value both perspectives.
Business first, technology where it helps
I've seen how easy it is for organisations to become focused on systems, reports or projects without being entirely clear about the business outcome they need.
My starting point is to understand the challenge, listen to the people involved and question assumptions where necessary.
Sometimes the answer is a relatively simple adjustment to a process or a better use of information already available. At other times, a more substantial technology or organisational change is justified.
The important thing is choosing an approach that fits the situation rather than making the situation fit a preferred solution.

I work independently under the Elliott Riley name, so you'll deal directly with me.
We'll begin with a free introductory conversation. If there's a suitable opportunity to work together, I'll propose a paid engagement with an agreed scope, deliverables, fee and payment terms.
That could be a focused assessment, a discovery exercise, advice on a particular decision or support with a wider project.
Some clients may only need an independent view and clear recommendations. Others may want continued involvement to help deliver the work. The arrangement should suit what your business needs.
