Technology decisions & change

Make confident technology decisions — and turn them into results.

Independent technology advice and change support: choosing systems, working with suppliers, defining requirements and delivering significant projects with business priorities at the centre.

Technology decisions can be difficult when you have a business to run, competing priorities and suppliers offering different answers.

Even after selecting the right system, making it work across people, processes and existing technology brings its own challenges.

I help business leaders approach those decisions with a clear understanding of what's needed and what it will take to deliver.

Where I can help

  • Replacing a system that no longer meets your needs.
  • Exploring automation or practical uses of AI.
  • Comparing technology suppliers and proposals.
  • Preparing for a project that affects several teams.
  • Struggling to coordinate business requirements and technical delivery.
  • Looking for experienced leadership without recruiting a permanent technology director.

Independent advice, on your side of the table

I help clarify what the business needs, distinguish essential requirements from preferences, assess options and challenge unnecessary complexity.

I can support supplier conversations, business cases, priorities and delivery planning.

If you proceed, I can provide client-side oversight of implementation, coordination, risks, testing, readiness, training and adoption.

My role is to represent your business interests and ensure the work stays connected to its intended outcomes. Technical implementation can be carried out by your own teams or appropriate specialist suppliers.

Experience in practice

Connecting people and finance processes

I co-led a multi-company transformation involving HR, payroll, finance and employee services.

The work included understanding requirements, assessing suppliers, coordinating implementation, introducing self-service processes and supporting colleagues through the transition.

It brought together business functions that had previously operated with different systems and ways of working, creating more consistent processes and easier access to everyday employee services.

The programme demonstrated the importance of addressing people and processes alongside the technology itself.

What you can expect

Depending on the engagement, the outputs might include:

  • Clear business and system requirements.
  • An independent assessment of available options.
  • Support with supplier selection and decision-making.
  • A structured approach to implementation.
  • Experienced oversight of delivery and organisational readiness.

If you need ongoing support, I can remain involved as an independent adviser or client-side change lead for an agreed period.

Let's talk about your business

Whether you've got a specific challenge or simply feel something could be working better, an initial conversation is a good place to start.
